When I first received the activity cube I opened it right away and inspected it. It is very well made with a sturdy plastic material that will stand up to the test of time. There are some paper stickers on some of the gears and the clock. One thing I particularly like about this cube is that it breaks down to store or travel with ease and in very little space. You could easily carry this toy with you when traveling in as little space as in your diaper bag or under the seat of the car. There are 6 assorted color shapes to sort. It can be cleaned very easily with warm soapy water.
Now when the grandson came to visit, he was very intrigued by the toy. He immediately started spinning the gears, spinning the hands of the clock and wanted the blocks out of the cube. To remove the cubes, simply take one side of the cube off and dump them out. He had some difficulty sorting the blocks when he first got it, but after a week of playing with this toy he had mastered the sorting. I don't know at the times I took that cube apart and dumped his shapes. It kept him busy and sitting still for hours (this mamaw loves that). But I included a funny little video and a video of him after using it a while below. He has learned some colors and shapes and that is just awesome. It was definitely a hit!!!
Now for a couple things, not that I didn't like, but I would change to improve the activity ball. It would be an awesome plus if they made the outer ring of the shape on the block the same color as the actual shape block. I noticed when we first started playing with the ball he was trying to match the colors of the shapes to that on the ball and got somewhat frustrated when it didn't fit (he quickly learned to sort by shape). One other thing I think would have been nice would have been to have added some music to one section of the cube. I think it needs more "noise". I noticed on his cube that in manufacturing that one of the "pages" of the book on one section was upside down (however there are screws on the backside of this and it would be an easy fix). But all in all I enjoyed watching Gideon learn and he enjoyed it as well.
The cube is a great learning tool as well as a toy. It stimulates the hearing with the noises of the clock, the gears and the sorting cubes. It facilitates the recognition of colors and shapes. And it has all sorts of interesting "moving" parts. Something to keep the little one busy for hours. This toy is made and sold by Wishtime on Amazon.
